Soirée by Tara Guérard ~ New York Studio Unveiled

Legendary Charleston, SC event designer and our good friend, Tara Guérard, has opened a new studio in New York City.

Tara's studio, Soirée, has been a mainstay for sophisticated, modern event design in Charleston for thirteen years. Her work has been featured in multiple issues of Weddings Unveiled and also in InStyle Weddings, Martha Stewart Weddings and Town & Country Magazine. Clients across the country – from celebrity hosts to hometown brides – seek out Tara for her signature gracious southern style infused with a decidedly modern flair.

Following the release of her book "Southern Weddings: New Looks from the Old South", Tara has been planning the expansion of Soirée for several months. The New York studio is opening in Manhattan at 37 West 20th Street with Nicki Clendening, a longtime outside creative consultant for Soirée and former director of publicity for Artisan Books, at its helm. “I have known and worked with Nicki for many years," says Tara, "and am confident that her extensive network of New York contacts will help us generate immediate visibility and new business leads. Nicki’s impeccable eye for design and detail will also meet the needs of existing Soirée clients as well as those of its sister company, The Lettered Olive, a purveyor of luxury invitations.”

Since opening the doors of Soirée by Tara Guérard in Charleston, South Carolina over a decade ago, Tara has been recognized as a leading arbiter of entertaining and southern style. In 2005, she was selected as a Top 25 Trendsetter by Modern Bride magazine. Most recently, Tara was tapped by Martha Stewart and the editors of Martha Stewart Weddings to create a “Gorgeous and Green” Nashville, Tennessee wedding which was highlighted in the magazine and televised on the Style Network.

Weddings Unveiled wants to wish Tara Guerard all the best with her new studio in New York and we can't wait to see more of her amazing work!

Sale of All Sales in Charlotte!

We absolutely LOVE Capitol in Charlotte! It is THE go-to boutique for designer labels like Oscar, Balenciaga, Narcico Rodriguez, and Marc Jacobs. Their pieces have been featured in Weddings Unveiled many times. So when we heard about the Carolina Warehouse Sale this weekend, we thought we might have been dreaming!

The Carolina Warehouse Sale is a one-week premier discount sales event offering top designer items for unbeatable prices. This event will offer shoppers access to a huge inventory from top regional boutiques and national designers. The Sale will begin this Saturday, June 27th and will run through July 4th. Capitol, along with over 20 other high-end stores, will be selling their pieces for up to 75% off the original price! Even better, at end of the second week the remaining pieces are further discounted to 85% off. Either way, you can walk away from this sale with some amazing designer clothes for a fraction of the cost! You can't help but check this sale out!

How is this sale possible, you ask? Ruth Caldwell, buyer for the Capitol store in Charlotte, realized that the spring inventory they purchased last year before the economic downturn was doomed to sit on the shelves. Buyers' shopping habits have done a 180 and stores like Capitol can't afford to sit on such an abundance of inventory. The idea? Caldwell decided it was a great opportunity for area stores to come together with their abundance and have a HUGE sale!

“A lot of women here have been conservative,” says Caldwell. “If they go to a cocktail party, they don’t buy a new, amazing showstopper. They wear something they already own. But now, they’re ready to go buy a new dress. I think we’re rounding a bend. This will be a fun, guilt-free experience that will hopefully get people excited about shopping again.”

And boy, are we lucky! Here are the participating stores -

Monkees of Lake Norman
Bella Ropa

P & J Designs

P & J Designs is a small, but wonderful boutique that we have come across and we just had to tell you about them! Run by two friends who shared their love of design in college, Pauline Pellicer and Jessica Wong started P & J Designs as a custom invitation and stationery boutique that can do just about anything you can dream up. Aside from their ridiculously creative invitations, the best thing we have discovered about P & J Designs is that their passion for great design and hands on creativity run their business - which means it comes through in every piece they produce.

While we just love their party invitations, we are obviously partial to their Wedding Invitation options! Each invite is custom designed based on the direction and ideas of the couple and what results is a one-of-a-kind correspondence that expresses exactly what kind of couple you are. Not only can they do the invitations for your wedding, but they can carry your custom design through every detail -including programs, menus and right down to the placecards.

We just love their unique designs and passion for creativity! These are just a few of our favorites from their collection.

Tallu-lah Cards

We are loving these note cards from Tallu-lah Cards! Every member of your wedding can be covered, from your ring bearer to your ushers, and the best man to the matron of honor. We have always said that recognizing the people that made your day possible is an important part of your duties as a bride and groom. Tallu-lah is a great resource for yet another small way to do so! As an added bonus, all Tallu-lah Cards are letterpressed on fine Italian paper.

Owner of Tallu-lah Cards, Danielle Spinetta, started making cards for friends and family as a hobby and creative outlet. But with some extra time on her hands and a sewing machine on her desk, Danielle decided it was time to make this hobby a career! As Danielle says, Tallulah Stationery, Cards and Invitations are designed for women with sass - and who doesn't love to be sassy?!

Tallu-lah Cards has signature colors that lend a simple sophistication to all the coorespondence - pink, chocolate brown and light blue. Of course you can find other colors as well, but we think those three are just fine! To learn more about Tallu-lah, check out the website. You can also purchase Tallu-lah Stationery on Etsty.

Heidi Elnora Opens Atlanta Boutique

Designer Heidi Elnora has opened a brand new bridal boutique in Atlanta! Nestled on Peachtree Street in the heart of midtown Atlanta, Heidi's quaint little bridal boutique opened with appointment books filled. Brides from all over the country are traveling to heidi elnora in Atlanta and Birmingham to have their wedding gowns exclusively designed by the Project Runway alum.

Heidi Elnora Standridge is an Alabama native who has patterned her life after fashion. Polished design, classic lines, and attention to detail took Heidi from small town Alabama to Project Runway and back. Upon graduation, Heidi began designing children’s wear for Carter’s in Atlanta. After Project Runway and four years of designing children’s wear, Heidi decided it was time to make her dream a reality. “I have had so many signs leading to designing bridal. I guess I really never paid attention. This is my passion. My calling if you will. I love it. What other garment do you cherish like a wedding gown? What an honor it is to be a part of such a special day and to design the most important article of clothing a woman will ever wear. The bride loves her gown as much as I love designing it for her. We make a pretty sweet team.”

In November of 2006, back in her hometown, heidi elnora was created. As of June 2, 2009, heidi has opened her second location in her home away from home, Atlanta, Georgia. Garment artisans in Alabama and Georgia craft all heidi elnora gowns and veils by hand. Brides now have the opportunity to have a custom gown at any budget! Start your gown search at heidi elnora!

The heidi elnora 2009 collection focuses on a minimalistic approach to design, focusing on a romantic feel with vintage trim detailing. Hand-sewn cultured pearls, Italian alencon lace, silk satin organza, silk chiffon, and hand-beaded lace from French create the 2009 look.

It's All About the Shoes

The Shoes. True, they may be out of sight for a significant portion of your wedding day, nonetheless, a bride's footwear is a vital detail or her (or any girl's!) accoutrement. We love the idea of incorporating a colorful shoe, rather than the traditional white, to add some extra oomph, not to mention the possibility of rewearing. Even if you don't have a Louboutin or Jimmy Choo budget, there is no reason your feet should look anything less than fabulous when you say 'I do'. We found some great designer looks, as well as their similar (and more wallet-friendly) counterparts. See what fits you best!
