2012 Trends from The Wedding Salon

The Wedding Salon in New York showcased some of the most glamorous trends in weddings for 2012 with fantasy reception tables, a couture fashion show by Jenny Yoo and appearances by other top names in the wedding industry, such as Colin Cowie, Wedding Salon founder Tatiana Byron, Carlo's Bakery of Cake Boss and Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings. Among some of the hottest trends showcased were the all-white wedding, crystal accents, vintage-inspired gowns and more. David Tutera designed a sky-high centerpiece of white orchids and white ostrich feathers dripping with crystal accents and touches of silver, while floral designer Gabriela Wakeham’s all-white wedding table stayed on point with a chandelier-inspired table featuring orchid and crystal garlands floating from a chandelier structure over a base of white orchids and hydrangeas accented by silver linens. Honora Winery created a tree-like structure with branches stretching toward the ceiling, filled with crystals and all-white roses. An English royalty inspired reception table by Shawn Rabideau looked to the Victorian Age using English Lace, Lily of the Valley and white roses with lavender accents, while Thru the Looking Glass used old Hollywood glamour as inspiration for their black and white table with white roses, silver and crystal accents.

Melanie Auld Designs

Thanks to her husband Alex's hockey career, Melanie Auld has lived in eight different cities in the US and Canada, including Vancouver, Boston, Dallas and New York. She currently lives with her family in Montreal and credits her travels as the inspiration for her exquisite jewelry collections for Melanie Auld Designs. “I credit the inspiration for my collections to the amazing cities I have been so fortunate to live in and the people I have met that make those cities what they are,” says Melanie.

We love the Melanie Auld Designs collection of jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings and sets of stackable bracelets that are among our favorites. The styles are versatile and beautiful, perfect for day or evening and any season. They are made using cut stones and set in ultra-luxe 18kt vermeil and silver. The glamorous bridal collection is crafted using the finest stones and metals and can be customized to fit within your color palette. Custom pieces are also available if you'd like something completely original and one-of-a-kind. Woodenhive

Kerrie Balma of Woodenhive loves all things vintage, but especially finds beauty in old silverware. When she was a young girl, her parents introduced her to antiquing, but at the time she didn't have much interest. As she got older, the years of antiquing rubbed off on her and these days, Kerrie is out of bed at the crack of dawn searching for flea market finds. We adore the repurposed treasures she creates using vintage silver flatware and serving pieces. Each charming item is made by hand, perfect for bridal party gifts, newlywed table settings, table numbers, dessert and cheese markers, wedding cake cutting and more. We've included images of a selection of our favorite Woodenhive pieces below, but visit the Woodenhive website for more information.
